TEMKO - Darkness Rises

It is this slow farewell that inspired Aart to write Darkness Rises; a translation of technology and space itself into music. A 30 year-long radio transmission of Pioneer 10's journey towards the unknown, comprehended into a 50-minute experience, including a sonification of the last dataset from Pioneer 10 ever to be received and a video tailor made by Dries Alkemade, fitting the piece as a glove.

Electric guitar & Composition - Aart Strootman
Bass guitar & Electronics - Fred Jacobsson

Mallet Collective - Canto Ostinato - Simeon ten Holt met Ivo Janssen - Live in Concertgebouw

The performance of Simeon ten Holts’ Canto Ostinato by Mallet Collective and pianist Ivo Janssen came from a project initiated by TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven and the World Minimal Music Festival. The first live performance took place during the latter festival in April 2013. The two marimbas and two vibraphones from the Mallet Collective give the Canto a completely different timbre than a performance by two or four pianos, as is the most common. Especially for Mallet Collective, Adams Muziekcentrale built vibraphones that were not previously produced with extra large reach. Mallet Collective recorded their own version with Ivo Janssen, Live in the Concertgebouw main hall during the Robeco Summer Concerts 2016.
