An index of wood

A program for marimba solo & electronics by Ramon Lormans.

Post minimalists and his own creation come together in this program for marimba solo. Ramon collected four pieces, starting to introduce the sound of the marimba through four movements from ‘An index of wood’ by Anthony Fiumara. Then a ritual groove work on a theme by Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch is included as Ramon’s own creation. Some sound effects, exploration of the marimba and temple bells are added. Then ‘Turn’ for marimba and voice (tape) by Anja Plaschg a.k.a. ‘Soap & Skin’ tells you a poem in your ears. Ending the program with a solo version of Aart Strootman’s Shattered Canon #1 for marimba quartet on tape, all performed by Ramon himself.
