Suspirium ensemble
founded in 2021 by cellist Gala Lozynska and mezzo-soprano Iris Bouman, seeks a new approach to early music. Lesser-known repertoire from the early Baroque period is dusted off and given a new and fresh look. With a focus on the songs of the 17th century, Suspirium Ensemble demonstrates that early music is groovy and swinging like no other! A large continuo group, consisting of theorbo/baroque guitar, cello/viola da gamba and harpsichord, creates different layers with new colors and textures. Suspirium Ensemble's repertoire ranges from French airs de cour, early Italian songs and Latin American Baroque repertoire.
Suspirium Ensemble consists of Dutch singer Iris Bouman, Ukrainian cellist Gala Lozynska, Punto Bawono from Indonesia on theorbo, Jeremy Bass from United States on baroque guitar, Taiwanese violinist MengHan Wu and Dutch percussionist Ramon Lormans.
